Today, the voice communication connection ends at the last location – the right bank of the Dnieper in Kyiv.
Mobile operator Kyivstar has almost completely restored communications after a powerful attack by hackers. Mobile Internet will be launched soon. The general director of the company, Alexander Komarov, said this in a telethon on Thursday, December 14.
“Fixed Internet services for the home have been fully restored. This is about 1 million households throughout Ukraine. Voice communication services have been restored by almost 99%. We are now finishing the last geography – this is right bank of the Dnieper in Kyiv,” he said.
Komarov confirmed that Kyivstar was unable to restore mobile Internet within the expected time frame.
“Unfortunately, we have not recovered yet. But we hope that this afternoon we will start the recovery from western Ukraine, region by region we will carefully start the restoration of mobile Internet services,” said the general director.
Komarov expressed hope that Kyivstar will resume three main services (mobile voice, mobile Internet and SMS) by the end of this week. However, he said, “the level of uncertainty is off the charts.”
“We will also restore all additional services later, and this, from my point of view, will take several weeks. But it will be more and more minor services,” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, Russian hackers from the group Solntsepek took responsibility for the cyber attack on Kyivstar, declaring the destruction of “10 thousand computers, more than 4 thousand servers.” In this regard, Kyivstar denied the claims of Russian hackers.
We remind you that on the evening of December 13, Kyivstar announced the integration of voice communications.
