As noted in a recent review by the British Ministry of Defense, in early December, the newly formed 104th Guards Airborne Division of the Russian Airborne Forces, with a high probability, suffered “extremely large” losses and did not complete its tasks during its combat debut in the Kherson region.
The division was poorly supported by airpower and artillery, while many of its troops were likely inexperienced, analysts said.
After the incident, Russian “military correspondents” called on the commander of the Dnepr operational-tactical group, Colonel General Mikhail Teplinsky, to resign. This is a blow to Teplinsky’s reputation as “one of the most capable” Russian field commanders, also the commander of the Airborne Forces, in the war against Ukraine,” the British department said in its review.

While the British Ministry of Defense published this review, Putin stated on a direct line that in Krynki the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost dozens of people from elite assault squads, and in the Russian Armed Forces there were “only a few wounded.”
He announced that “soon there will be no Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters in Krynki – and this will be the last wave of the Ukrainian counter-offensive.”
According to the latest official reports, the Defense Forces are conducting counter-battery warfare in the area. The artillerymen provide serious support to the soldiers holding positions on the left bank. The use of aerial reconnaissance and attack UAVs is also effective, although in recent days difficult weather has made adjustments to combat work. On the left bank of Kherson, the Ukrainian defenders did not surrender a single position to the enemy.
