The amount of new aid pledged to Ukraine fell by almost 90% compared to the same period last year.
The amount of newly pledged aid for Ukraine from Western countries in August-October 2023 reached a historic minimum – decreased by almost 90% compared to the same period in 2022. This is confirmed by the results of a study conducted by the Kiel Institute of World Economics, European Pravda reports.
During this period, the total value of new aid packages reached 2.11 billion euros, which is the lowest level since January 2022, the German institution said.
The most important groups of active donors are Germany, Finland, Ireland, Croatia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada and the UK.
The US remains the largest donor of military aid with a total of 44 billion euros. However, Germany is rapidly acquiring military commitments totaling more than 17 billion euros.
In addition, EU countries continue to catch up with the United States in terms of the amount of promised military aid, and in some areas they are already ahead of them in this indicator.
Of the total €25 billion pledged for heavy weapons (January 2022 – October 2023), 43% goes to the US and 47% to all EU countries and institutions combined.
As we have already written, the state budget of Ukraine received about $400 million guaranteed by Great Britain through the trust fund of the World Bank.
