There is a 40-kilometer queue at the Polish-Ukrainian border

There has been a strike by Polish carriers on the Polish-Ukrainian border for more than a week now.

Queues for entry in front of blocked checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border are 40 km long. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Sergei Derkach on Tuesday, November 14, in an online meeting with carriers.

“A colleague from the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure came to a meeting on November 13 at the border, I asked him what is the next queue, because, according to the information I have, it is about 35 kilometers. He said that the queue is about 40 kilometers That is This is the official data from the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure that can be obtained,” he said.

Questioning the Deputy Minister, First Vice President of a public organization Ukrainian Transport Union Vladimir Balin noted that the situation with drivers stuck at the border is serious – they lack water, food, no health conditions, and some cars have no fuel.

Derkach said local authorities have installed some dry toilets for drivers to use, but are not providing food or water to drivers. The stores where they could shop were located far away, and traffic in the direction of one of the stores was closed by the police, fearing clashes between protesters and Ukrainian drivers.

“We raised this issue with the governor again yesterday. He promised that he will take steps to provide the necessary hygiene products, especially water, food to our drivers,” the official assured.

According to the deputy minister, it seems that the only way to end the blockade is to cancel the permission to conduct a strike.

“The only way to end this blockade is, in fact, for the Polish government to cancel the permit for this strike, just get the Polish protesters off the road and open up traffic,” he said.

We remind you that on November 6, the strike of Polish carriers began on the Polish-Ukrainian border, demanding the abolition of visa-free transportation for Ukraine. Polish carriers block the movement of trucks at checkpoints Korchova – Krakovets, Grebennoye – Rava-Russkaya, Dorogusk – Yagodin. They demand the return of commercial transport permits for Ukraine.

On November 13, Ukraine held negotiations with Poland to lift the border blockade, but no agreement was reached.
