The Ukrainian energy system has recorded a surplus thanks to the active operation of renewable energy sources.
Ukrenergo has turned to the Polish operator PSE to provide emergency assistance in the form of an urgent purchase of excess Ukrainian electricity. The company announced this on Monday, November 6.
It is indicated that yesterday a surplus was recorded in the Ukrainian energy system – an excess of electricity produced. This happened thanks to the active work of renewable energy power plants (RES) – in some regions the weather is not only windy, but also sunny.
“In order to maintain the balance between consumption and production and to avoid limiting the operation of power plants using renewable energy sources, Ukrenergo turned to the Polish energy operator PSE with a request for emergency assistance in the form of of an immediate purchase of excess Ukrainian electricity for three days time with a total volume of 900 MWh,” – said the message.
It is indicated that this proposal helps to avoid paying costs for restrictions on the operation of renewable energy sources.
It was also reported that Ukraine now imports electricity during the day and night (the peak consumption period) from Slovakia and Romania. The total volume is 2572 MWh, with a peak power in individual hours of up to 281 MW.
Exports are carried out in Slovakia, Moldova and Romania at night (daily minimum consumption) with a total volume of 700 MWh, with peak power in individual hours of up to 266 MW.
We remind you that yesterday bad weather cut off electricity in hundreds of settlements in Ukraine. The worst situation is in Kyiv and Chernigov regions.
