Since the beginning of the year, the regulator sold almost $19 billion in the interbank foreign exchange market, and bought only $196 million.
In the working week of September 18-22, the National Bank of Ukraine sold $823.61 million and bought only $100 thousand. This was confirmed by the regulator’s data on Saturday, September 23.
The volume of sales in the interbank foreign exchange market was slightly lower than last week, but the second largest since the beginning of the year.
In total, the NBU has sold more than $18.8 billion since the beginning of the year, and bought $196 million. The negative balance grew to $18.6 billion.
We remind you that in August the National Bank sold almost $2.4 billion, which is the largest volume since February of this year. As a result, Ukraine’s international reserves were reduced for the first time in six months.
At the beginning of this week, the dollar exchange rate rose sharply in exchange offices, reaching a maximum of 38.60 hryvnia. After that, the rate started to decrease.
