The company has developed a comprehensive vision of metal housing construction in Mariupol. The Russians destroyed all the buildings on this site.
Group Metinvest developed and submitted to the Mariupol City Council, which is now working remotely, a comprehensive project for a residential area for 10,000 residents. This was announced by the company’s press service on Monday, September 4.
We are talking about building houses with a steel frame. The first such residential 8-storey building began to be built in Mariupol, but there was no time to complete it because of the war.
“Metinvest get a big outline and develop a comprehensive vision of metal housing construction in Mariupol. This is the site where the Russians destroyed everything, and then covered their tracks and destroyed all the buildings. So now he is free. We can design now, and once the city is freed, we can tie the project to the landscape. This greatly reduces the time,” said the Deputy Mayor of Mariupol Sergey Zakharov.
According to him, the main advantage of steel construction is the speed of construction, which will be important after the de-occupation of the city. The use of steel in the foundation of a building, which amounts to 15% of the project estimate, reduces the total cost of the project by 2-3%.
Previously, it was known Metinvest within the framework of the “Steel Dream” project, 13 types of steel buildings were built. Among them are residential buildings, from 1 to 8 floors high, social infrastructure facilities (school, kindergarten, outpatient clinic) and related infrastructure (parking, sports complex and underground shelter).
The company says the concept involves more than 200 finished building designs based on three pre-fabricated metal elements: a frame, a module and a platform. Ready-made building designs can be used anywhere. At the same time, their adaptation costs about half as much as building a new project from scratch.
“The request is now great, because typical projects are complex, with estimates and implementation schedules. We provide it to communities free of charge. From the moment the project is received until the actual start of construction, it takes, on average, 4 -6 months. Communities need to adapt the project, permitting documentation and other procedures. If desired, you can change the facade of the buildings, the color scheme so that the buildings fit into the general architecture,” explained the head of the construction sector’s project office Metinvest-SMC Tatiana Skripka.
