On September 15, the borders for trade of the European Union with Ukraine should be fully opened, at the same time, the European Commission said that the final decision has not yet been approved.

Brussels proposes to allocate 600 million euros from the EU budget to help transport Ukrainian grain to Europe. On Thursday, August 31, the European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski made such a proposal at a meeting in the European Parliament on Thursday, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

In particular, he proposed to subsidize the transit of Ukrainian grain to the Baltic ports at the level of 30 euros/ton.

“This money – the amount of 600 million euros – will come from the EU budget. The condition for their allocation will be the obligation of Ukraine to find a recipient of its goods in third countries,” said the European Commissioner.

He explained that Ukrainian grain remains in Europe because the cost of transportation through Baltic ports to third countries is too high. As a result, third countries prefer to buy cheaper Russian grain.

“EU aid to Ukraine in the form of subsidy for transport costs is the best solution,” said the commissioner.

If another decision is made, in his opinion, Ukrainian grain will once again flood the aforementioned markets of neighboring countries, and only part of it will be exported to third countries.

Voitsekhovsky said that after the introduction of a temporary ban, the transfer of Ukrainian grain was carried out in Germany, the Netherlands, and the Baltic countries. Only up to 3% of grain is sent to third countries, which are traditional consumers.

It is known that on June 5, the European Commission extended until September 15 the restriction on the export of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, but allowed the transfer of these goods in these countries. .

Recall that in July Ukraine sent a record batch of grain along the Danube.

In May, the Danube ports handled more than 3 million tons, which is an absolute record for the ports of this region.
