The factory will start shipping the new phones a few weeks after the new iPhone models start shipping from China.
Taiwanese Apple assembler Foxconn is starting production of the iPhone 15 in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. Bloomberg reported this, citing sources.
It is noted that Apple, thus, aims to further close the gap between its operations in India and its main production base in China.
“Foxconn Technology Group’s Sriperumstroy plant is preparing to deliver new gadgets just weeks after they start arriving from factories in China, as the company seeks to rapidly increase the volume of new iPhones coming from India, ” sources said.

Apple continues a multi-year project to diversify production outside of China to reduce risks in its product supply chain as US-China tensions make trade unpredictable . India is looking to have closer ties with the US and become a manufacturing hub.
Right now, Apple is assembling iPhones in India in small quantities, and the pace of production here lags behind those in China by several months. However, last year the situation began to change – India began to provide 7% of iPhone production.
This year, the company wants to get closer to parity in shipping times from India and China, although suppliers are not yet sure if that will be achieved. The scale of iPhone 15 production in India depends on the availability of imported components and the smooth ramping of production lines at the Foxconn plant.
Apple’s other suppliers in India are Pegatron Corp. and Wistron Corp. – will also begin assembling the iPhone 15 soon, sources say.
It will be remembered that earlier it was known what the iPhone 15 will look like. Apple will introduce a new iPhone this fall.
