The price of strawberries fell by an average of 36% in one week. Wholesale prices fell to 30-65 hryvnia per kilogram.
Wholesale prices for garden strawberries (strawberries) in Ukraine fell to UAH 30-65/kg ($0.82-1.78/kg), which is 36% cheaper on average than last week, EastFruit reports.
It was noted that last week the average wholesale price for garden strawberries in Ukraine did not fall below UAH 60-85/kg ($1.64-2.32/kg).
Analysts explain that warm weather stimulates the active ripening of strawberries in Ukrainian farms. As a result, the supply of this berry in the market is rapidly increasing, which is encouraging a sharp drop in selling prices in this segment.
Producers are forced to reduce prices due to the rapid increase in the supply of strawberries from local farms, while the demand for these products remains relatively suppressed. At the same time, most market operators noticed a relatively large percentage of substandard berries at the current time. Abundant rains significantly reduced the quality characteristics of Ukrainian strawberries.
According to EastFruit, on June 6, 2023, the price of strawberries in Ukraine was 37% lower on average than in the same period last year. At the same time, the main market players do not exclude further price reductions in this segment from next week.
Earlier it was reported that in April buckwheat and beets fell significantly in Ukraine.
