The reasons for this are the improvement of the energy supply situation, the increase in the supply of food and fuel, and the increase in the consumer sentiment of the population.
In April, business representatives positively assessed the results of their activities compared to the previous month for the first time since October 2021. The Business Expectations Index (IODA) increased to 51.5 from 49.5 in March, crossing the neutral level (50 points). This is confirmed by the data of the monthly survey of businesses in Ukraine, conducted by the NBU.
The reasons for this are an improvement in the energy supply situation, an increase in the supply of food and fuel, an improvement in inflation and exchange rate expectations, and an increase in consumer sentiment among the population.
Also, for the first time since January 2022, commercial enterprises expect an increase in the number of employees, the rest of the sectors surveyed predict lower staff reduction rates than in previous months.
In addition, the majority of businesses participating in surveys maintain high expectations of growth in purchase prices, as well as tariffs for their own products/services.
A monthly survey of businesses was conducted from 04 to 21 April. 481 businesses took part in it.
As noted in the NBU, the results of the polls reflect only the opinion of the respondents – heads of businesses, and not the estimates of the National Bank of Ukraine.
We would like to remind that the business lowered negative expectations about its own business activity, as well as rising inflation and exchange rate estimates.
