Vessel inspections continued despite Russia’s attempts to disrupt the grain deal, the Ukrainian side said.
In the Bosphorus Strait, inspections of ships carrying agricultural products as part of a grain deal continued. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov following a meeting with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Wednesday, April 19.
“Vessel inspections continue despite attempts by the Russian Federation to derail the agreement. We continue consultations with Turkey, the UN and other partners on ways to ensure full implementation of the grain deal in accordance with obligations of all parties and procedures of the JCC (Joint Coordination Center),” Kubrakov wrote in Twitter.
He thanked the Turkish Defense Minister for the constructive dialogue and clear position in support of the work of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
In turn, the Turkish side, following the results of the talks, only reported that “there was an exchange of views on the steps to be taken for a smooth and uninterrupted continuation of the grain initiative. “
It will be remembered that in March the grain deal was extended for 120 days. But Russia announced its extension for just 60 days and threatened a complete break if its five demands were not met.
