The main goal of Solidarity Pathways is to provide Ukraine with alternative ways to export agricultural products and other goods, said Brussels.
The European Commission accepted the agreement between Poland and Ukraine on the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products, but it did not change its position on the unacceptability of Warsaw’s unilateral actions. This is what the press secretary of the European Commission, Miriam Garcia Ferrer, said, PAP news agency reported yesterday.
“We accept this statement as a first step towards resolving the current situation. However, we are not changing our position that unilateral actions are unacceptable,” he said.
According to the spokesperson, the European Commission continues to cooperate with interested EU member states, as well as with the Ukrainian authorities in this area.
He recalled that the Vice-President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, will discuss the controversial issue during negotiations on April 19 with the authorities of Ukraine and five EU member states.
“The main goal of Solidarity Paths is to provide Ukraine with alternative ways to export agricultural products and other goods, guaranteeing the functioning of the Ukrainian economy in the conditions of the blockade of Black ports Sea. Therefore, it is important to ensure that there is indeed transit, and that this grain reaches those countries where it is most in need,” said the representative of the EC.
Ferrer added, we are talking about developing countries that are still facing the situation of rising food prices due to the instability caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Recall that on April 18, Poland and Ukraine agreed to resume transit of agricultural products. At the same time, imports from Ukraine will continue to be banned.
And now, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy explained how agricultural products will pass through Poland.
