Nammo wants to expand its ammunition business. However, a TikTok data center is being built nearby, and as such, the plant lacks capacity.

TikTok data center prevents Norway from making ammunition for Ukraine. On Tuesday, March 28, The Guardian wrote.

The CEO of Nammo, which is co-owned by the Norwegian government, said a planned expansion of its largest factory was hampered by energy shortages as the construction of a new TikTok data center consumed electricity in the region.

Local electricity supplier Elvia confirmed that there was no free capacity on the grid after it became available at the TikTok data center. It takes time to gain more power.

“We are concerned as we see that the presence of cat videos threatens our future growth,” Nammo CEO Morten Brandzeg said in a statement.

According to him, the demand for artillery shells is 15 times higher than the norm and the European ammunition industry must invest 2 billion euros in new factories to keep up with Ukraine’s needs.

According to NATO, due to the intensity of the fighting, the Ukrainian army spends between 4,000 and 7,000 artillery shells every day.

We remind you, earlier in the US House of Representatives, the use of TikTok was banned. In the UK, officials have been banned from using Chinese social networks on their work phones. French authorities also do not allow civil servants to use TikTok.
