The head of the National Bank, Andriy Pyshny, expressed confidence that emission financing will not be needed in 2023.
The monetization of the state budget deficit in 2023 is not planned, despite the plans of the Cabinet of Ministers to increase the state budget deficit by UAH 419.3 billion. This was said at a briefing by the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pyshny, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“We are determined, and here we have a common position with our partners from the International Monetary Fund and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine to prevent the monetization of the budget deficit in 2023. Emission sources must be replaced by that resource that is currently developed in terms of their availability,” said the head of the National Bank.
Pyshny believes that such sources can be the activation of the domestic borrowing market and maximizing the potential provided by the liquidity currently in the system, as well as attracting international funding and assistance.
“We hope that due to these two sources, as well as the measures that the government and the Ministry of Finance will take on financial consolidation, we will be able to finance the budget, even taking into account the additional costs, without the corresponding emission sources,” the head emphasized. Throughout the message, Pyshny expressed his confidence that equity financing will not be needed by 2023.
Recall that for the year Ukraine covered 38% of budget expenditures with the help of partners.
It was previously reported that people’s representatives approved the first changes to the state budget-2023.
The state budget deficit in February increased to 88.8 billion
