In January, the income of Ukrainian banks increased by 55% and reached almost UAH 39 billion, the NBU said.
At the end of January, the profit of Ukrainian banks more than doubled compared to January 2022 – the last month before the start of a full-scale war with Russia. This was announced by the National Bank on Wednesday, February 22.
Thus, solvent banks received UAH 14.7 billion of net income in January. This is 2.1 times more than the same period last year – UAH 7.1 billion.
At the same time, the income of banks increased by 55% compared to January 2022 and reached UAH 38.7 billion, while expenses increased by 35% to UAH 24.0 billion.
Recall that by the end of 2022, the total income of Ukrainian banks decreased three times – to UAH 24.7 billion – compared to the record year 2021.
At the same time, the rating in terms of profitability is led by the state-owned PrivatBank, which earned UAH 30.2 billion.
