It is indicated that earlier this mechanism was mainly used by customers from Moldova itself.
“For our international partners, this step opens up the possibility of storing gas delivered to LNG terminals in Greece or Turkey in Ukrainian underground storage facilities,” added the service of the press.
“This is an important decision both for the security of supplies and the development of the Ukrainian gas market, and for the long-term business planning of the entire region using the infrastructure of Moldova. It will undoubtedly contribute to the security of gas supplies to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The opportunity has opened, but whether they will take advantage of it depends on the traders and the available resources on the route,” said Olga Belkova, Director for Cooperation with Agencies of the Government and International Organization of Ukrainian GTS Operators.
It was previously reported that foreigners increased gas injection at UGS facilities in Ukraine. European countries have almost filled their gas storages, so they increased the injection into Ukraine for storage.
