The mechanism for importing electricity from the EU, introduced by a government decision, will allow producers to reduce their dependence on planned power outages and help strengthen Ukraine’s energy security .
“It was not easy, but we managed to create an acceptable working mechanism. The available transmission capacity for importing electricity from EU countries, including Romania and Slovakia, is 600 MW per hours. Businesses that will buy imported electricity are guaranteed to be protected from planned electricity supply restrictions in the amount of electricity they buy,” said Sviridenko.
The proposed mechanism, spelled out in Resolution No. 1 of January 3, 2023 adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers, will help the entire economic sector to function, especially those critically dependent on uninterrupted electricity supply.
The day before it was reported that from January 1, Ukraine will import electricity. At the same time, the possible volume of imports depends on the repair situation and the entry into operation of the energy system in the coming days.
