Russia fears U.S. Patriot systems will change course of strife in Ukraine

Russia fears that the Patriot systems the United States has promised to supply to Ukraine will change the course of the conflict while warning of unimaginable escalation with NATO, which it accuses of becoming increasingly involved in the conflict.

However, today Putin assured that the Patriot systems are “quite old” and do not work “as well” as the Russian S-300s.

“We will hack them. Whoever does it does it in vain. They just drag out the conflict. That’s all,” he said.

Some experts point out that the Patriots can defend a small city, residential area, or military base, but they can never defend a large city like Kyiv, on top of the fact that each missile costs about $4 million.

$100 billion weapons

Meanwhile, during a meeting with foreign military attachés, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Army Valery Gerasimov today accused the West of trying to “prolong” the conflict by supplying Kyiv with weapons worth “almost $100 billion.”

Russian general accused NATO of handing over Ukraine about 350 tanks, 1,800 armored vehicles, 700 artillery pieces, four aircraft, 30 helicopters, 5,300 grenade launchers and at least 5,000 drones.

In fact, Blinken clarified that the aid promised to Zelensky by the President USAJoe Biden, includes another $1 billion for air defense and precision weapons.

In total, since the arrival of the Patriots, the United States has helped Ukraine by about $21.9 billion since last February and stressed that it will continue to do so “as long as it is necessary.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov today expressed regret that at the meeting between Zelensky and Biden in Washington “there were no real calls for peace, not in front of a gallery, but real ones.”

Zelensky recalled that, despite the accumulated suffering, Ukrainians yearn for victory over Russia and that a “just peace” means the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory Ukraineafter which Moscow must compensate Kyiv for all the damage caused.
