Summer has finally arrived, and with it, the opportunity to enjoy days at the beach or by the pool. However, hair care during this time of year should be intensified. That’s because frequent contact with sun, salt, wind and chlorine can harm the health of the wires.
Therefore, the first tip from hairstylist Max Gonçalves, from Fil Hair & Experience, is to bet on scarves, hats and caps, because they protect the strands and, mainly, the scalp from exposure to ultraviolet rays.
Attention before and after diving
For pool and sea lovers, the tip is to wet your hair with fresh water before entering, as this will prevent salt and/or chlorine from getting deeper into the hair, and the same goes for the post-dive. “If you don’t have a shower or shower nearby, it’s worth taking a bottle of mineral water”, says Max.
Washing your hair daily is also a great bet for those who are enjoying the summer at the beach and pool, as the strands are exposed to the sun, salt and chlorine, waste that, when accumulated, can aggravate the dryness and fragility of the strands.
Preventing hair from breaking
The hairstylist also remembers that it is important not to tie the wires wet, because in that state they are a little more fragile, just like the scalp. “Making a ponytail, for example, with wet strands, can break the strands more easily and even pull out some that would have a longer lifespan. This habit can also cause the proliferation of fungi, which can contribute to this factor of hair loss”, explains Max.
Hair hydration and exfoliation
Another piece of advice from the expert is hydration. “She is the antidote to recover [o cabelo] damage, maintain the health of the threads and to prevent that greenish effect on blondes”, he explains. Experts also suggest that the blondes wait 15 days before entering the pool or the sea if you have had your hair color recently.
Finally, Max suggests a gentle exfoliation to eliminate salt and chlorine residues from the hair. “It can be done with the mask of your choice, as long as it is for nutrition or reconstruction. Put it in a container and add a spoonful of brown sugar. If you need to, you can double the recipe depending on your hair length. Mix and apply to the hair, massaging strand by strand. Let it act for 20 minutes with a cap plastic”, teaches the specialist.
There are also ready-made lines from different brands made for the summer, such as Solar Sublime, by L’oréal Professionnel, which Max recommends to clients to adopt as part of their hair care this season.
