The Kremlin leader insisted that “absorbing another state” would not make sense for Russia.
Russia “is not going to absorb” any state. This applies, in particular, to Belarus. This was stated by the head of the ruling regime of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at a press conference on Monday, December 19, in response to a relevant question from journalists, the Belarusian pro-government news agency Pool of the First is reported.
“Russia has no interest in ‘absorbing’ anyone, there is no point in it,” the Kremlin leader assured.
He also mentioned “a simple, everyday, but at the same time sensitive for the economic subject of pricing in the energy sector.”
“The question is fair pricing. You don’t need to be a great specialist to understand what the problem is. The problem is that we have different levels of subsidies, different approaches to individual participants in the activity of the economy, households and citizens,” he explained.
Putin claims that “unscrupulous critics from the outside” either do not understand what they are talking about, or they speak deliberately, deceiving the people.
“The issue is not absorption – the issue is the coordination of economic policy, as is done in many other integration associations. Everything else is superficial, nonsense. These are attempts by our ill-wishers to slow down our integration process. And they do it only in order not to get effective and dangerous competitors in the world markets – that’s all,” assured the head of Russia’s ruling regime.
Recall that on Monday the Kremlin announced two main topics that Putin and Lukashenka will discuss.
In addition, it is known that the formal leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, met Putin with a bouquet and a loaf of bread during the latter’s visit to Minsk.
