Electricity consumption has increased in Ukraine. At the same time, nuclear power plants reached their planned capacity, Ukrenergo reported on Sunday, December 18.
It was mentioned that the process of resuming the operation of the energy system is now underway. All nuclear power plants are operating except for the occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which continues to be in shutdown mode.
“The amount of electricity consumption has increased compared to Saturday, which has affected the system’s deficit indicators. The reason is both the damage to the energy infrastructure during the ninth missile strike and the seasonal drop in temperature,” the report said.
All oblenergos are given a consumption limit. If these are exceeded, emergency shutdowns may apply.
At the same time, emergency recovery work continues throughout Ukraine on high-voltage and distribution networks and on power plants. But the weather conditions (increased frost, strong winds) complicate the repair work.
The previous day, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he managed to restore the light for almost 6 million Ukrainians in one day after a massive missile attack by Russian aggressors.
