As a result of a powerful explosion in the Irkutsk region of Russia on the territory of an oil refinery in Angarsk, two people died and five others were injured. This was announced by local governor Igor Kobzev on Telegram on Thursday, December 15.
After the explosion, a huge fire started, covering 2.5 thousand square meters. More than 100 people and 25 pieces of equipment battled the fire at the process plant. The fire is now out.
Investigators opened a criminal case after the fire at the technological plant of Angarsk Petrochemical Company (ANHK), reported the press service of the Russian Sledkom of the Russian Federation for the Irkutsk region.
“According to the investigation, today at about 6:00 am there was a fire at the technological installation of an industrial area in the district of the city of Angarsk of the Irkutsk region … negligent death of two or more person),” the statement said.
It will be remembered that at first only two people died in the explosion in Angarsk. Previously, this was caused by gas contamination of the plant’s process systems.
