The Deputy Secretary General of the UN for Humanitarian Issues visited Ukraine

He and his delegation will visit Kyiv, hold several scheduled meetings, and also visit Kherson, Nikolaev.

The UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths will visit Ukraine. On Friday, December 9, Ukrinform writes in relation to the press secretary of the Secretary General, Stephan Dujarric.

“Martin Griffiths, head of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, will travel to Ukraine next week from December 12 to 15,” Dujarric said.

He mentioned that Griffiths will review the situation in providing humanitarian assistance. He is expected to meet with officials, UN humanitarian partners, representatives of non-governmental organizations and diplomatic corps, as well as people affected by the war.

Also, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations “will assess the effectiveness of the humanitarian response and the new challenges that have arisen related to infrastructure damage and winter frosts.”

The UN representative is expected to travel to the south of our country. In particular, in Nikolaev, Griffiths will visit the place of residence of internally displaced people and the bakery, which operates with the support of the UN. In Kherson, he will check the humanitarian aid distribution point.

Recall that the sum of $5.7 billion was requested for Ukraine in 2023.
