The Pope on the eve made several statements about the war on the territory of Ukraine, calling its inhabitants martyrs.
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak on Friday, December 9, held a meeting with journalists from the Vatican and representatives of the Catholic media. The OPU website reports this.
During the conversation, Yermak said that the head of the Vatican can make a significant contribution to the end of the unjust war started by Russia.
At the same time, the head of the office of Volodymyr Zelensky strongly called the Pope’s recent statements about the Ukrainian people as a martyr people who “suffer from the cruelty of the invading armies.”
Yermak emphasized that the pontiff explicitly said that the Russian state had attacked.
“Pope Francis has such a powerful weapon as the faith of the laity and the word of God, and our country really needs it. We hope that he will support Ukraine on the path to a just world,” he said.
Earlier, Pope Francis said that what Russia is doing in Ukraine is reminiscent of how Nazi Germany carried out operations against Jews during World War II.
Recall that the Pope recognized Russia as the aggressor of Ukraine, and also compared the Russian war on Ukraine to the Holodomor.
