An American military expert said that Moscow’s version of the latest explosions at the airport does not specifically prove the capabilities of the Russian army.
Russia, while claiming Ukraine’s involvement in the bombings of its airfields behind bars, has acknowledged a “shameful weakness” in its ability to defend its military installations. About this on Tuesday, December 6, Business Insider wrote, citing the words of Samuel Bendett, a military expert from the Washington-based Center for Naval Analysis.
He emphasized that the airfields used to deploy the Russian Federation’s nuclear strategic bombers are located hundreds of kilometers from Ukraine.
“Strange. Why didn’t Russian air defenses track and identify targets so deep inland?” Bendett asked.
It was noted that although the Russian Federation played the truth throughout the war against Ukraine, the version of the aggressor about the latest explosions at airports does not specifically prove the capabilities of the Russian army.
At the same time, some observers believe that in its statement, the Russian defense department under “Soviet-made drone” means the Tu-141 operational-tactical reconnaissance drone.
“Basically, it’s not so much a UAV as it is a flying missile. It’s not complicated. And it probably creates a lot of noise during flight. Again, it’s one thing to hit something, say, at a distance which is 100-200 kilometers from the border. Another thing is to attack something 600 km away,” explained the military expert.
At the same time, Bendett does not rule out that by openly acknowledging its own vulnerability after accusing Kyiv of attacking airports, Russia is trying to cover up a more inconvenient version of how the explosions happened. Military observers suggest that the attack may have been carried out by Ukrainian agents on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Recall that an unknown drone attacked an airport in Russian Kursk near the Ukrainian border. As a result of the drone attack, the oil reservoir caught fire. And in the Bryansk region, drones attacked the Slava plant. They fell a few meters from the fuel tanks and exploded.
