Some EU member states have previously expressed displeasure that the European Commission is delaying further proposals for restrictions against Russia – the latest package of sanctions was adopted two months ago.
The European Commission has prepared a new package of sanctions against Russia, which could be approved in a week, Radio Liberty correspondent in Brussels Rikard Jozwiak said on Twitter.
“The European Commission today informed the EU member states about the 9th package of sanctions against Russia. It is interesting that Belarus did not fall under the sanctions (again),” wrote said Jozwiak.
“About 180 names on the list, aimed at banks, media and technology, could be agreed upon at a meeting of EU foreign ministers on December 12,” he added.
Some EU member states have previously expressed displeasure that the European Commission is delaying further proposals for restrictions against Russia – the latest package of sanctions was adopted two months ago.
Poland and the Baltic countries, which submitted their draft restrictions to the Commission a few weeks ago, called for quick work on the next package.
Among their proposals are, in particular, a ban on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, in the technology sector, a ban on the export of all drones, including civilians, and a reduction in services. The list also includes a ban on the import of diamonds from Russia and the sale of real estate to Russians.
Recall that the European Commission has proposed general rules that will facilitate the investigation, prosecution and punishment of sanctions violations.
