Seven Words Mike Pence said a refusal to appear before a House committee investigating the U.S. Capitol riot should bar the former vice president from public office, a former federal prosecutor said.
In a YouTube video posted this week, Glenn Kirschner criticized Pence’s claim that “Congress is not entitled to my testimony” about the Jan. 6 riot.
Kirschner, who has been an attorney in the U.S. District Attorney’s office for the District of Columbia for more than two decades, noted that Congress has a legitimate purpose in trying to find out what happened to Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election on which Pence. finally rejected. despite pressure from Trump and his supporters, who sang “Hang Mike Pence” on the day of the violence.
Presumptive GOP 2024 nominee Pence, Kirschner continued, has “some of the most relevant evidence of what happened.”
“Let’s be clear, by extension Mike Pence is saying ‘the American people are not entitled to my relevant testimony because Congress is trying to legislate to prevent this from happening again,'” Kirshner said.
