Russia is now continuing Soviet terrorism, and the authorities are using the same methods as the Stalinist regime, the statement said.
The aggressive war unleashed by Russia, the Holodomor and the artificial famine in Ukraine in 1921-1923 and 1946-1947 pursued one goal – the destruction of Ukrainians. This was stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, published on Saturday, November 26.

“The Ukrainian people, with their traditions of national liberation movements, were seen by the Kremlin as a threat to the existence of the Soviet system. Stalin’s regime inflicted famine, repression and mass deportations to destroy the spirit of Ukrainians , starved to death somehow. 3.9 million people,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry believes that the goal of a modern war and an artificial city in Ukraine in the 20th century is not different – Russia wants to destroy the Ukrainian nation and its state.
“By continuing terrorist attacks on critical infrastructure, destroying historical and cultural heritage, forcibly transporting Ukrainian children to Russian territory, the Russian Federation is waging a war against Ukrainian identity,” said the diplomats.
It is implied that Russia is now continuing Soviet terrorism, and that the authorities are using the same methods as the Stalinist regime. In the past, the NKVD confiscated the last food from Ukrainians, and in 2022 the Russian Federation robbed Ukrainian elevators and exported grain. Due to the Kremlin’s “hunger games”, several countries and regions are on the brink of starvation.
“We call on international partners to restore historical justice – to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people and to prevent further war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide by Russia ,” concluded the Foreign Ministry.
On November 26, Ukraine honored the memory of the millions of victims of the Holodomor. On this day, Ukrainians light candles in their homes in memory of those who died from an artificial famine organized by the Soviet authorities.
This week, the parliaments of Ireland, Romania and Moldova officially recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
