The British prime minister believes Putin has enough political space and support for Russia to step down.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson does not think Russian President Vladimir Putin will use tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine if he encounters more military setbacks. He said this on the air of the British television channel Talk TV, CNN reports.
According to Johnson, Putin has enough political space and support in Russia to step back and withdraw from Ukraine.
When asked if he expected Putin to consider using tactical nuclear weapons if he was experiencing further military setbacks in Ukraine, the British prime minister said he did not think that would happen.
“Putin could have gone to the point where he looked at the Russians and told them: ‘The special military operation we launched in Ukraine has ended successfully. We had to carry it out to protect certain categories of people, and it’s done, ”Johnson said.
As additional arguments, he considers Russia’s massive support for what Putin is doing and the apparent ignorance of the Russian media on what is actually happening in Ukraine.
We will remind you, earlier in the United States it was admitted that Putin would use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. However, they warn that it will have an astronomical price for Putin and Russia.
And the other day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the danger of nuclear war is real and therefore this risk cannot be underestimated.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded that Moscow was using such rhetoric to intimidate the international community, and to make them stop supporting Ukraine.
