The Russian leader agreed to United Nations participation in the evacuation. Details of the agreement were not provided.

Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to the request of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to involve the organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross in the evacuation of civilians from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. This was reported on April 26 by the UN press service.

It was noted that during the bilateral meeting, proposals for humanitarian assistance and the evacuation of the civilian population from conflict zones, specifically related to the situation in Mariupol, were discussed.

Subsequent actions for evacuation from Azovstal will be accompanied by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

It will be recalled that the conversation between Guterres and Putin lasted almost an hour. The UN Secretary -General said he considered the war in Ukraine to be an aggression by Russia.

As you know, on April 28, Guterres will arrive in Kyiv.
