Chilean President Gabriel Boric reaffirmed his support for the summit on Tuesday Pacific Alliance in Peru after a meeting scheduled in Mexico was canceled last week due to the absence of Peruvian President Pedro Castillo, who was scheduled to take over as president.
“We agreed with President Castillo to hold a suspended meeting of the presidents of the Pacific Alliance, that is, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Mexico; in the country of Peru on a date that we will announce shortly, as soon as we have completed consultations with other member countries of the Alliance,” Boric said.
As far as the body is concerned, Gabriel Boric insisted that it was a fundamental instrument of “multilateral cooperation” between countries on both sides of the Pacific, in South America and AsiaThis is reported by the Chilean TV channel Canal 13.
Pedro Castillowho landed on Chilean soil this morning, met with Boric, who later said that the two had deepened their cooperation on social issues, security and defence, foreign trade, environment, energy issues and border integration.
A Pacific Alliance summit scheduled for last week in Mexico has been suspended after Congress denied Castillo permission to travel to the American country to take over the leadership of the group.
After this episode, the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorannounced his intention to hold a meeting in Peru to secure Castillo’s presence and avoid the blockade imposed by Parliament.
Binational cabinet to be held in Chota
The president Pedro Castillo On Tuesday, he invited his Chilean counterpart Gabriel Boric to host the next Peru-Chile bilateral cabinet in his home province of Chota, located in the Cajamarca region.
“The next binational cabinet, my esteemed President Boric, should do it in Peru, and in that we should see how we support the bases. I hope this will be done in the north, in my region; much better if it is done in Chota,” said the President of the Palacio de la Moneda.
Lock He thanked the Chilean government for the reception and insisted on the need to implement the agreements reached at this bilateral meeting.
“Appropriate follow-up action needs to be taken to provide answers to these common enemies and to these historical social gaps such as poverty, great inequality. There are cities without water, without electricity and without roads. There are thousands of Chilean and Peruvian compatriots who have no roof and more, and that’s what we’re looking at,” he said.
