Dozens of people provoked riots this Sunday in the center Brussels after the World Cup match in Qatar against Belgium With Moroccodestroying cars and city furniture, forcing the police to intervene.

The incidents began in the middle of the second half, when some 150 young people gathered in the center of the Belgian capital set fire to container and they threw firecrackers and fires artificialafter which they started beating cars parked in the area, according to Belgian public television RTBF.
Footage broadcast by local media shows several fans destroying a car, some of them carrying the Moroccan flag, the winner of the match, and scooters on fire.

More than a hundred policemen were involved in the suppression of the riots.
The riots led to the intervention of hundreds of police officers who fired tear gas and two water cannons and urged citizens to avoid visiting the center.
They also forced the closure of several metro stations and blocked traffic on some streets, as well as affecting public transport.
Police deployed extensively on the occasion of the match which ended 2-0 to Morocco, as there were major riots in 2017 following Morocco’s qualification for the World Cup, in which 22 people were injured. .
This Sunday’s unrest is limited to the city center, while other parts of Brussels, home to an important Moroccan community, are currently enjoying an uneventful celebration.
