The Russian military used the dump in Kherson to burn corpses, possibly those of their dead comrades.
The Guardian writes about this, citing statements from local residents.
The interlocutors of the publication said that they saw how trucks filled with black bags arrived at the landfill, which were then burned. At the same time, the sharp smell of burnt hair was felt in the air.
At the entrance to the landfill, a checkpoint was set up, and local residents were not allowed to enter the territory.
The Guardian notes that these claims were confirmed by dozens of local interlocutors, but emphasizes that it is impossible to independently confirm the stories.
The Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on this news. An unnamed local official said that the Ukrainian side “is not interested in the burial of the enemy.”
