Moscow also intends to continue the work of the Ukrainian section of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline, Vladimir Putin stressed.
Russia is in contact with the UN Secretary General on the issue of unblocking the supply of fertilizers, and will also work on resuming the operation of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline. This was announced on November 23 by Russian President Vladimir Putin in a meeting with the head of Uralchem Dmitry Mazepin, according to Russian media.
It was noted that the Russian leader supported the request Uralchem apply to the UN and the African Union to unblock 260 thousand tons of fertilizers located in a number of European ports.
“You know for sure that we are in contact with the Secretary General of the UN, Mr. Guterres, with the relevant structures (…). Therefore, the appropriate order will be given to all our colleagues so that they can give you of the necessary assistance,” Putin said.
He called it unacceptable blocking the supply of fertilizers to countries in need, where Russia is “ready to provide goods free of charge.”
“The leaders of several African countries contacted me directly on this issue, which, of course, did not understand what was happening, because all the time they talked about the need to help the poorest that country,” stressed the Russian president.
According to Mazepin, the Ukrainian side “puts political demands” for the launch of the Togliatti-Odessa pipeline. He expressed hope that the issue of ammonia supplies could be resolved within the grain deal.
“The parameters are there, the numbers are known, the volumes are clear. The benefit for all participants in this process (from the launch of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline) is also clear. We will also cooperate with the UN, with colleagues from the organization. Let’s see what happens. You know my position, I will not object, please,” assured Putin.
It will be remembered that on November 14, the UN General Assembly supported a resolution on the creation of a mechanism for the payment of Ukraine for the damage from the war unleashed by the Russian Federation.
In the Kremlin, the document on reparations in Kyiv was called “formalization of the theft of the Russian state.”
