The actual numbers are much higher as information is delayed from some locations where heavy fighting continues.

From the beginning of the Russian Federation’s massive invasion of Ukraine until November 20, 2022, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) recorded 6,595 dead and 10,189 wounded among the civilian population of Ukraine. This was stated in the OHCHR report, but it was noted that in fact many more were killed and injured.

“A total of 6,595 dead (2,575 men, 1,767 women, 172 women and 206 men, as well as 37 children and 1,838 adults, whose gender has not yet been determined),” the report said.

According to official UN data, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, 10,189 civilians have been injured (2,212 men, 1,579 women, 211 women and 299 men, as well as 245 children and 5,643 adults, whose gender has not yet been determined) .

In Donetsk and Lugansk regions, data was recorded on 3,939 dead and 5,338 injured.

In the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine, 3,490 dead and 3,815 wounded were registered, and in the territory temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation – 449 dead and 1,523 wounded.

“In other regions of Ukraine (Kyiv, as well as Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Nikolaev, Odessa, Sumy, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, Khmelnytsky, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Vinnitsa, Volyn and Zhytomyr region), which at the time of losses were under the control of the government of Ukraine 7,507 victims (2,656 dead and 4,851 wounded),” the UN said.

Most of the recorded civilian casualties were caused by the use of long-range explosive weapons: heavy artillery shelling, multiple rocket launchers, rockets and air strikes.

It is noted that the actual numbers are higher, as the flow of information from some areas where heavy fighting continues has been delayed, and many reports are still awaiting confirmation.

Earlier it was reported that in Ukraine, at least 437 children were killed by the invaders, but in fact their number is much higher.
