An Iranian court handed down the first death sentence to one of the protesters in Tehran province. The defendant was also declared an “enemy of God.” The latter is qualified by Iranian law as a particularly serious crime and punishable by death even without charges. He can still appeal the verdict.
In addition, five people were sentenced to five to ten years in prison for conspiracy to commit crimes against national security and for disturbing the peace.
Note that Iran has been gripped by massive protests after the death of a girl who was detained by the police for wearing a hijab incorrectly. During the actions, according to local media, 318 people were killed, including 49 minors.
