Turkish authorities have arrested a man who allegedly left a bomb on Istiklal Street in Istanbul. This was announced on Monday, November 14, by the head of the Turkish Interior Ministry, Suleiman Soylu, on the air of the TRT Haber TV channel.
According to the minister, “the person who left the bomb has been detained.” The head of the Interior Ministry said that preliminary data indicated that the organizations banned in Turkey – the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and the Democratic Unity Party, which operates in Syria, were behind the attack.
“In the near future, we will repay those who caused us this pain with greater pain,” he said.
The explosion occurred the previous day, November 13th. At least six people died. 81 people were injured, two of them in serious condition.
Earlier, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay told reporters that the attack on the pedestrian Istiklal Street in Istanbul was carried out by a woman.
