Russian forces captured several members of the OSCE monitoring mission in Lugansk and Donetsk. Threats to Mission personnel were also reported.
OSCE SMM members were arrested in Donetsk and Lugansk, the Organization is seeking their release. This was announced by Deputy British Ambassador to the OSCE Deirdre Brown, Reuters reports.
“We have received disturbing reports that Russian proxies in the Donbas are threatening Mission personnel, equipment and premises, and Russian forces have caught SMM personnel,” Deirdre Brown said.
It noted that the Organization expresses deep concern and “uses all available channels to facilitate the discharge of its employees.”
Russia had previously reportedly blocked the extension of the OSCE SMM mandate.
