It was noticed that the Russian authorities in recent days have stopped publishing information about public debt, imports and exports, information on oil production, and the amount of financial data that should be regularly publish by local banks is limited by the Central Bank.
Russian lawmakers are also working on a bill that would ban lenders from exchanging data with foreign countries, as part of the Kremlin’s efforts to protect the economy and companies from further sanctions from the West.
According to the American newspaper, the limited data means that Washington and Brussels are less aware of how their sanctions will hit the Russian economy, making it difficult to find new targets and adjust future packages of locking.
It was previously reported that Russia’s second bank was in a state of default: Rosselkhozbank failed to pay a coupon in dollar Eurobonds due to British sanctions. Earlier, Sovcombank, which fell under US sanctions, announced that it had suspended the accrual of interest on two issues of Eurobonds.
