Zelensky thanked Lithuania for consistent political, financial, humanitarian and defense assistance to Ukraine since the early days of the full-scale war with Russia.
“We are especially grateful for the strengthening of our army, the training missions, the repair of damaged military equipment, medical assistance to our defenders and their rehabilitation,” the President insisted.
In conversations with Victoria Cmilyte-Nielsen, the head of state also noted the importance and adherence to the principles of more than ten resolutions of the Seimas of Lithuania in support of Ukraine. In addition, Zelensky noted the speaker’s significant personal contribution to the adoption of these documents and his decisive personal position on critical issues of protecting Ukraine’s interests.
At the meeting, it was separately noted that Russia’s aggression and missile strikes against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure have provoked a lack of energy supply not only in Ukraine, but throughout Europe.
In this context, the importance of Lithuania’s already initiated participation in the restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure facilities that suffered as a result of the Russian invasion was noted. The interlocutors emphasized that the arrested and frozen assets of Russia should be directed to the restoration of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Victoria Cmilyte-Nielsen discussed further cooperation on the path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.
As you know, Lithuania systematically supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine for millions of euros. The Ukrainian military received dozens of M113 armored personnel carriers, 105 mm howitzers, mortars, other weapons, drones, thousands of winter uniforms and ammunition.
