Russia has 40,000 troops in the Kherson region, it still has forces in the city. It will take at least a week to withdraw them.
It will take Russia at least a week to withdraw its troops from Kherson. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov in a comment to Reuters.
According to him, Russia has 40 thousand troops in the Kherson region, it still has forces in the city, around the city and on the west bank of the Dnieper, despite the announcement of the retreat.
“It is not easy to get these troops out of Kherson in a day or two. At least (it will take) a week,” he said, noting that Russia’s actions are difficult to predict and Kyiv is focused on its own plan.
At the same time, Reznikov suggested that Russia reinforce its units in the nearby Zaporozhye region, which has also been partially occupied for several months.
Meanwhile, the adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Yuriy Sak, in a commentary for Sky News, said that Ukraine has still not seen evidence of a massive withdrawal of troops from Kherson.
According to him, only on Wednesday, tens of thousands of Russian servicemen were in the city.
“These are significant numbers, so we have to wait and see if they start to go away,” he said.
Sak added that Kyiv remains skeptical of Moscow’s announcement.
It will be recalled that on November 9, the Minister of Defense of Russia, Sergei Shoigu, ordered the withdrawal of troops from the right bank of the occupied Kherson region “to save the military life and the fighting ability of the group of troops.”
And on Thursday night, social networks reported explosions and “arrivals” around Kherson and the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.
