Russia is restoring old trenches on the peninsula and digging new defensive structures.
In the north of temporarily occupied Crimea, Russia is restoring old and excavating new defensive structures. The corresponding satellite images of Planet Lab on Wednesday, November 9, published on Twitter OSINT analyst Benjamin Pitte.
“I think this trend will surprise you. Russia is digging new trenches in Northern Crimea,” Pitte wrote.
It was noted that Russia continued to build trenches at the Chongar checkpoint between Crimea and the Kherson region. New trenches were also dug.
For comparison, the analyst published photos taken on August 12 and October 8 (all photo-clickable).

Also, trenches appeared in the Armyansk area. Old trenches are being repaired and new ones are being dug.
“In this photo, we see the excavator digging a new trench,” the analyst said.
“Partly to the north, other positions are being built. In Novotroitskoye, for example, a large defensive position has been excavated. Many other positions are visible throughout the region. They are building a fortress,” Pitte wrote.
The situation is the same in the northwestern part of Crimea, near Armyansk. The old trenches were repaired and new ones were dug.
