The continent is no longer protected from missile and drone strikes, and after the war in Ukraine, EU countries have to solve this problem, the French leader stressed.
Europe needs to create a new security architecture after the end of the war in Ukraine, as well as strengthen arms control. It was announced on November 9 by French President Emmanuel Macron, presenting a new defense strategy, reports TF1.
It was noted that in his speech, the French leader named the main challenges that his country could face due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation that was unleashed on Ukraine.
“The aggression against Ukraine risks becoming a prototype of a larger conflict in the future, which we have no reason to treat with fatalism and we do not intend to be passive,” he said.
At the same time, Macron believes that the war on Ukrainian territory has clarified “the state of the world, the weakening of norms and taboos.”
According to him, when peace returns to Ukraine, Europe will have to sit at the negotiating table and “build a new security architecture, as well as a renewed framework for stability and arms control.”
The French President emphasized that the continent is “no longer protected from missile and drone strikes” and air defense “is of a strategic nature.”
Earlier, Macron assured that his Paris would continue to support Kyiv.
