For two months in the war in Ukraine, more than 500 prisoners were killed, who were recruited by “Putin’s cook” who was well-groomed in the Wagner PPK.
The list of the dead was formed thanks to the Ukrainian Center for the Study and Counteraction to Hybrid Threats, which discovered and verified more than 200 letters signed by Andriy Troshev, one of the leaders of Wagner, reports The Insider.
He sent condolences to the families of prisoners recruited in Russian colonies. Relatives, in turn, published letters on social networks.
It is possible to draw a conclusion about the number of dead because each letter is numbered. In addition, a posthumous medal “For Courage” is attached to it.
Judging by the numbering of documents, in less than a month (from September 18 to October 13) Troshev sent at least 224 letters of condolence. In total, by mid-October, at least 458 prisoners had died in Ukraine, since this is the largest ordinal number that could be found among letters in the public domain.
The Insider publishes the names of some of the dead. The journalists contacted the relatives of those killed, who confirmed that their loved ones really were in prisons, then they were recruited into the PIK and recently died in Ukraine.
Recall that on November 4, Putin allowed to send criminals with an outstanding criminal record to the war against Ukraine. This does not apply to persons convicted of pedophilia, terrorism, extremism, high treason or organizing an illegal armed group.
There have been repeated reports of prisoners being recruited by the so-called private military company Wagner to take part in the fighting in Ukraine.
