Ukraine is ready for negotiations, but without territorial concessions to the Russian Federation and with respect to the UN Charter, the President of Ukraine insisted.
In an evening video message to the people of Ukraine on Friday, November 4, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke, in particular, about the deceptive position of the Russian leadership both in relation to their people and with relationship with other countries.
“The most brutal battles of the whole week were concentrated in Donbass – Bakhmut and Soledar. We hold our positions. In these and several other places in the Donetsk region, the Russian army has already spent many lives of its people and as much ammunition as it apparently did not spend in the two Chechen wars combined. But the true scale of Russia’s losses is hidden from Russian society,” the president said.
As Zelensky stressed, Russia is also lying on the subject of negotiations. The willingness to negotiate, in his opinion, requires honesty, not deception at every turn.
“And the absolutely insane stubbornness of the owners of Russia today is the best indicator that everything they are telling some foreign leaders about their supposed readiness for negotiations is just as wrong. When a person thinks about negotiations, he is not looking for how to deceive everyone around to send tens or hundreds of thousands more people to the meat grinder – as mobilized or some kind of mercenaries,” Zelensky stressed.
Ukraine, as the president mentioned, is ready for negotiations, but there are no territorial concessions with the Russian Federation.
“We are only ready for peace – for a fair and just world, the formula we repeat over and over again. The world knows our position: it is respect for the UN Charter, respect for our territorial integrity, respect for our human and deserved. responsibility for terrorism – punishment for all guilty, and the full compensation of Russia for the damage caused to us. Ukraine will be free. And our entire borders will be restored. Both on land and at sea. Both in the east and in the south,” assured the President of Ukraine.
Recall that Western officials believe that the invaders have prepared the ground for their withdrawal from Kherson, the largest Ukrainian city captured by Russian troops since the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
