Tehran is turning to Moscow for help expanding its nuclear program, according to US intelligence.
Iran is counting on Russia’s help in boosting its nuclear program. The Kremlin initially opposed Iran getting nuclear weapons, but as cooperation between the countries strengthens, Moscow’s position may change. This was reported by CNN, citing its sources in American intelligence on Friday, November 4.
Iran has turned to the Russian Federation to help purchase additional nuclear materials and the production of nuclear fuel, media reports.
However, the sources could not yet say for sure whether Moscow agreed to help Tehran – the Kremlin opposed Iran getting nuclear weapons. However, the strengthening of relations between the countries may change the opinion of the ruling regime of the Russian Federation.
CNN said Iran’s request for help comes amid growing cooperation with Russia. In particular, Tehran sent attack drones to Moscow, which are being used against Ukraine. It also plans to transfer Iranian ballistic missiles.
In turn, the Russian Federation could advise Tehran on how to suppress protests in the country.
Recall that the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, in response to the words of the American leader Joe Biden “free Iran”, said that his country received freedom 43 years ago during the Islamic Revolution .
