TikTok is not a network that runs “smoothly” in the US. After attempting to regulate the placement of private data and keep it under the control of local companies during the last part of the Donald Trump administration, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) commissioner attacks the sub-brand once again Bytedance and asks for his veto in the United States.
According to CNN, Brendan Carr pointed out that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) should not negotiate with tik tak to continue operating in that country and proposes to block the application due to the “little trust” created by the platform and its handling of personal data.
“Maybe the deal that CFIUS ends up doing is an incredible, hermetic deal, but at this point it’s very, very hard for me to believe that TikTok will be left without finding a way to outperform our technical solution.” Karr mentioned.

TikTok downplays
Faced with these allegations, TikTok said they are confident of reaching an agreement with the US government and that this collaboration can satisfy the national security concerns that weigh on the popular Chinese app.
“Commissioner Carr is not directly involved in confidential discussions with the US government related to TikTok and is not in a position to discuss what these negotiations entail,” This was reported to CNN by a representative of TikTok.
A few months ago, Carr publicly demanded that Apple and Google remove the TikTok app from the AppStore and Play Store repositories, with no positive response from either company.
“For me, this is what I learned in the context of Huawei, ZTE and China Mobile, where we look at potentially nefarious data streams, and the application of that in terms of this problem,” Carr said.
