The Russian Defense Ministry stated that it had allegedly “received written guarantees” that the “grain corridor” would not be used for hostilities.
Russia has decided to continue participating in the agreement on the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports. This is what the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said on Wednesday, November 2 on its Telegram channel.
The Russian ministry assures that thanks to the participation of the UN and Turkey, “written guarantees have been received from Ukraine,” providing that the “grain corridor” will not be used for combat operations.”
“The Russian Federation believes that the guarantees received so far appear to be sufficient, and continues the implementation of the agreement – the Initiative for the Safe Transportation of Grain and Food from Ukrainian Ports,” the ministry said in a statement.
We add that Russia’s “participation” in the “grain agreement” provides only one thing: the Russian Federation must not attack or otherwise interfere with Ukrainian cargo ships carrying products to Africa and Middle East.
It should be noted that the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, assured Russian propagandists before that Moscow continues to engage with Turkey on the “grain deal” issue. He said Russia’s involvement in the deal is “still on hold.”
The Kremlin spokesman also said that the conditions for Russia’s return to the “grain deal” remain “the removal of obstacles to Russia’s export of fertilizers abroad.” However, the “barriers to the export of fertilizers” depend on the fact that many countries refuse to buy Russian products because of the Kremlin’s military aggression against Ukraine.
As you know, on October 29, Russia announced its withdrawal from the “grain deal” allegedly due to Ukraine’s attack on Black Sea Fleet ships with drones in Crimea.
We add that vessels with grain continue to leave Ukrainian ports, despite the decision of the Russian Federation.
