It is very important that all parties refrain from any action that could jeopardize the grain initiative, the UN spokesperson said.
The UN maintains contacts with the Russian authorities after the Russian Foreign Ministry’s announcement about Moscow’s withdrawal from the “grain agreement”. This is what UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said, Reuters reports.
“It is imperative that all parties refrain from any action that could jeopardize the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which is a critical humanitarian effort that has a clear positive impact on access to food for millions of people around the world,” said Dujarric.
It will be recalled that Russia announced that it will stop participating in the implementation of the “grain agreement” allegedly because of the “terrorist attack” in Sevastopol Bay on Saturday morning. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that ships of the Black Sea Fleet involved in ensuring the security of the grain corridor were allegedly targets of the attack.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Russia had found an enormous reason to withdraw from the “grain agreement”, and called on world states to demand that Russia stop the hunger games and return to its obligations.
The head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, noted the primitiveness of Russian blackmail in everything, including in matters of food.
